Medical weight management
Medical weight loss, supervised by our own nurse practitioners — not referred out. When a weekly injection is appropriate, semaglutide and tirzepatide are the two we prescribe.

What medical weight management involves
This is ongoing care, not a one-time prescription. It starts with an appointment where we go over your health history, what you’ve already tried, and anything you’re currently taking. If a medication is appropriate, we prescribe it from there and review it as you go.
What medical weight management involves: key points
- Weight, appetite, sleep, and mood often move together.
- Some medications used in psychiatry affect weight directly.
Run by the providers who already handle your psychiatric prescriptions — not referred out.

Who prescribes and reviews your care
Dr. Funmilayo Whitaker and Dr. Anastasia O. Ofoegbu are each certified as family nurse practitioners as well as psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners — DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC.
Who prescribes and reviews your care: key points
- The family certification covers general medical care, not just psychiatric care.
- The provider prescribing for you already knows what else you’re taking.

Before anything is prescribed
Tell us what you’re already taking, including anything prescribed elsewhere, and let us know if you have a history of an eating disorder. Both affect what’s safe, and neither is something to sort out on a form.
Before anything is prescribed: key points
- If you do have that history, we’ll talk about whether this is the right approach for you.
- Nothing is prescribed before an appointment.

What we do not promise
We won’t promise a specific amount of weight loss or a timeframe for losing it, and you won’t find before-and-after photos here.
What we do not promise: key points
- Response varies from person to person, and these medications aren’t right for everyone.
- If one is prescribed, it’s part of a plan, not the whole plan.
The medications we prescribe: semaglutide and tirzepatide
Both are weekly injections, and both require a prescription. They’re different medications with different active ingredients, and they aren’t interchangeable. Which one is prescribed, if either, is a clinical decision you make with your provider. Both carry side effects and risks, and your provider will go over them with you before anything is prescribed.
- Semaglutide — a weekly injection
- Tirzepatide — a weekly injection
Being on this list doesn’t mean either medication is right for you. Neither is prescribed without an appointment, and neither is right for everyone.
Common questions
Yes. Semaglutide and tirzepatide require a prescription, and we don’t prescribe either one without an appointment with one of our providers.
No. Both are weekly injections, but they’re different medications and aren’t interchangeable. You and your provider decide which one, if either, is right for you.
Coverage varies by plan, and many exclude medication prescribed for weight loss — Medicare drug plans generally don’t cover it at all. Check with your insurance company, and let us know what your plan says when you reach out.
